"September ramblings" September 30, 2009
It’s been a busy month, so much so in fact, I am just getting the Newsletter out to you on the last day of the month. Doesn’t matter – better late than never I always say! This will be a brief edition and a little repetitive, but look forward to a new look and content for the FFS Newsletter in October.
The past month has been busy as I said and shows signs of an economic recovery at least in the real estate & venture capital sectors, for those who believe it possible at this point. Indications, at least on the real estate front, show arguments for and against a genuine recovery of that sector. Industry pundits can’t seem to agree one way or the other. The true signs of a return to business as we have enjoyed it in the past would be the lending community’s return of confidence. It is fair to say that with suppressed interest rates and slight discounts on the residential front there are buyers – first time and others – taking an opportunistic leap. So to get a true depth sounding, one would have to see where we are in early spring of 2010 – when time has allowed for a fair leveling of the playing field.
There is also an increase in the venture capital funding sector as there are many new companies formed from the bones of the corpses of Q3 2008. Smaller VCs are sprouting up in the USA and Canada with an optimistic effort and a flurry of activity to get back to the market. This is a clear indication of that sectors forward movement. I have found in recent months that indecision seemed to be causing quite a bit of angst and curtailing efforts for many companies and their stakeholders. This pattern thankfully seems to be coming to an end. We’ll see if it’s merely a blip in the screen very soon.
Those are my brief comments for September except to say that I am seeing a substantial increase in business this month. I guess that means that either I have been rattling on about Collaborative Online Management for long enough, or some companies have taken the initiative to take the plunge after several months of retooling their efforts.
A better and improved October Newsletter will overshadow this hasty effort. Promise to make it up to you so hang in there if you would.
All the best and grab what’s left of that sunshine – Mark
FEATURE ARTICLE ( Repeat from August – by request)
"Project Management Tools – ROI’s from 250% to 500% !!" Depending on which research study you read using Project Management Tools show incredible returns on investment and are starting to enter the mainstream of business tools. In the past they have been limited to either very large organizations or companies with project managers using specific software firmly entrenched in the operations. The limitations in the past have been a near vanguard-like attitude by PM’s as they have the info, the power. Not so any more, as the tools are much more user/team friendly and have a vast number of features for organising beyond the scope of project related tasks. With a proliferation of PM Tools now available, as a business owner or project manager within a business, it would serve you well to do a little research in this area. As companies/organisations are retooling for the uptick in business ahead, it will provide a clear advantage beyond just that of one over your competition. We have a copy of one of the studies on our website that you can download. READ ROI DATA
CONTRIBUTING ARTICLE ( not this month ) Steve Dunn – Private Investor & Entrepreneur (Steve will return for the October Newsletter – Congratulations to Steve & Cindy on their recent marriage!)
